Ramadan is a month of prayer, fasting and abstinence, starting on Tuesday, 21 Mar 2023 and ending on Thursday, 20 April 2023. Fasting carries a high risk of dehydration, low sugar and sleep deprivation.
To fast healthily and safely, remember to eat Suhoor, avoid overeating during Iftar, limit fried, salty and sugary foods, drink plenty of water and consume foods from major food groups.
For Suhoor, choose high fibre starchy foods, fruits, vegetables and high-fibre carbohydrates. For Iftar, consume foods from all major food groups, including protein-rich sources, and limit oil for cooking.
